Want to impact Worcester youth through the arts this summer? Main IDEA is hosting our 4th annual FREE Summer Arts Program for kids in Main South, ages 8--12, August 10th--15th!  Main IDEA is a non-profit youth and arts program in Main South, Worcester; every summer we offer 1 week of all-day workshops for Visual Art, Creative Drama, Music, Dance, and Creative Writing, while focusing on cultivating confidence and character in the youth we work with. We are looking for volunteers in our community to partner with us as Counselors, Teachers, Leaders, etc. to help make this program a reality this summer! Hey friends! We have crunched the final numbers for what it will take to host our 4th Annual Week-long Summer Program this August, and our total comes to....$10,000! Free Art Workshops at Boys and Girls Club Oct 21st!

Come join us for an afternoon of FREE art workshops at the Boys and Girls Club, Worcester! The "Arts in the Afternoon" event will take place on Sunday, Oct 21st, 1--4pm at The Boys and Girls Club, 65 Tainter Street, Worcester. It is free and open to the public, and will include dance/musical performances, arts & crafts activities, and feature artwork from local artists. Main IDEA will be there, too, creating a community mural! See you there!

Main IDEA 2013--2014!

We wanted to give a HUGE thank you again to everyone who helped out with our summer program this past August!! We were able to host our summer program to a total of 40 kids, offering exposure and experience in 5 different art forms and provide a safe, creative environment for the youth of Main South. Thank you again!

We also wanted to extend an invitation to continue to partner with us throughout this next year. We hope to see Main IDEA someday grow into a more extensive summer program, as well as a full, year-round program! In efforts to see that happen, we are seeking to partner with other youth organizations in Main South (and Worcester), and also host workshops with these organizations throughout the year. In the meantime, we we also need to continue to gain exposure through taking part in local fairs and festivals.

We are looking to start committees to help us with these activities! If you are interested in helping out throughout the year, please contact me for more info. In particular, we are seeking to find helpers in the following areas:

Recruitment and Networking at Fairs and Festivals

Included, but not limited to: 

1. stART on the Street (this coming Sunday, Sept 15th)

2. King Street Block Party (Sat, Sept 21st)

3. Main South Celebrates (Oct)

Art Workshops

Included but not limited to:

1. Arts in the Afternoon, Boys and Girls Club Worcester (Sunday, Oct 20th, 1--4pm)

2. Holiday Party, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Mass (TBD: Dec 2013)

Fundraising, Grants, and Donations

Helping Main IDEA receive all the funds we need to make our program a reality!

Please print off and return all completed applications to: Main IDEA, 911 Main Street, Worcester, MA, 01610. ALL STUDENT APPLICATIONS ARE DUE BY JUNE 29TH! 

Main IDEA's Summer Program 2013 will be: August 12th-16th, 9:30am--3:15pm, at CLARK UNIVERSITY (Atwood Hall, alongside Woodland Street), 950 Main Street, Worcester, MA 01610.

Open Enrollment Day CHANGED to June 15th!!

Hey friends! So due to the rain forecast, the "Rep the Peace" Main South Block Party date has CHANGED to June 15th! Camper Registration forms will be available at the Block Party, but will also still be made available on the website starting on June 8th, to be printed off and mailed in to: 911 Main Street, Worcester, MA 01610.

Student Enrollment THIS SATURDAY!

Hey folks! Main IDEA will officially be accepting applications for campers THIS SATURDAY, June 8th, at the "Rep the Peace" Main South Block Party (rain date: June 15)! Free food, music, games, prizes and giveaways for all ages! The event will take place along Main and Benefit Street, from 11am--3pm. Main IDEA will be set up at the KidsZone, near the bouncy houses!
